Many people are looking for an effective health care system, which is natural and safe. Have you heard of homeopathy? Did you know it’s the second largest system of healthcare in the world? Homeopathy is a holistic approach which is highly effective because it works with the innate healing power of the individual.
Tip-Top Tip: First day back at the gym after a long break? About to do some digging in the garden? Before doing any strenuous activity that is out of the norm take arnica in 200 c (pill form). This will keep the aches and pains at bay. After all, prevention is better than cure!
What does a Homeopath do?
When you consult a homeopath, such as myself, they take the ‘whole person’ into consideration when prescribing. This is different from the approach of conventional medicine which tends to focus on an isolated symptom or system. A homeopathic remedy stimulates the body to heal itself, rather than directly targeting a symptom or condition.
People with a similar complaint can exhibit different symptoms based on their individual constitutional type. So they would receive different homeopathic remedies.
Homeopathic remedies are made from a variety of substances found in nature, such as minerals and plants. The substances are prepared by a highly controlled process of dilution and succussion. These processes render the remedies non-toxic yet highly effective. Homeopathic remedies come in a variety of forms, including pills and liquid potencies.
My journey with Homeopathy
I first became interested in homeopathy as a teenager. My father was being treated by the Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital for a heart condition. The conventional medication he was taking had many negative side-effects. The homeopathic treatment that he took alongside it had a very positive effect on his quality of life.
The first time I, myself, took a homeopathic remedy was for a very bad case of flu. I was very impressed that homeopathy could cure a case of flu, when there is no effective alternative treatment. I recovered overnight. At the time it felt miraculous!
In my early twenties I trained as a homeopath in the College of Homeopathy in London. I wanted to offer people a viable alternative to conventional medicine. In the 25 years that I have been practising homeopathy, I have become more and more convinced that homeopathy is a most effective, fast acting, and powerful system of healthcare. At the same time it is non-toxic.
Homeopathy through the ages
Some homeopathic principles, such as ‘like cures like’, date back to Hippocarates (460-377 BC). In its current form homeopathy has been around for over 200 years.
Homeopathy was formulated by Dr Samuel Hahnemann in the 18th century. He was looking for a system which would heal people rapidly, reliably and gently— with no negative side effects. Homeopathy spread quickly throughout Europe and the USA. It has also been widely adopted in India.
